Hello! I’m Sofi — a freelance web designer and WordPress developer based in Exeter. I design and build modern, easy-to-manage websites that look great, perform well, and grow with your business. Every site I create is responsive, fast-loading and built with usability, SEO and conversions in mind.
With over ten years of industry experience, including six years in a senior agency role in Brighton, I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients such as CERN, Rizla, The Guardian, Lexus and Amazon. As a former Creative Director, I’ve led projects from initial brief to launch, ensuring a clear, well-organised process for every client.
Now back in my hometown of Exeter, I design and develop bespoke websites for start-ups, small and medium-sized businesses, and collaborate with agencies as a contractor or remote team member.

Plan
Planning and site architecture are crucial steps in determining the size of the site, how the pages will be linked, and the simplest navigation options. From this, we create a clear scope so everyone understands what we’re aiming to create and we’re all on the same page regarding the project’s size and expected outcomes.

Design
Next comes the fun part — design. If you already have a designer, I can work from their files, or I can create your full website design from scratch. I focus on clean, modern web design guided by user experience best practices, helping visitors find what they need quickly and encouraging them to get in touch.

Develop
Once the design is approved, I build your website using modern, reliable code, testing it across different devices to ensure it works flawlessly on all devices. While I typically use WordPress for my sites, I welcome all projects and am a capable front-end developer if you need to refresh a static or existing site or improve user experience on an existing platform.

Using a CMS like WordPress allows you to change the content and imagery on your website with ease so you don’t have to ask a developer for any changes or amends.
WordPress uses ‘themes’ to give you the look and feel or functionality you want for your website. You can either purchase an off-the-shelf theme, or work with a developer and create a custom theme (like me). Off-the-shelf themes are a quick way to get started but sometimes it can mean spending a lot of time setting everything up, reading the instructions and some rather fiddly tinkering to get your site looking how you want.
